This month, Sync andSTR-Lehigh Valley are offering a DRUM CIRCLE experience. A drum circle is an informal, communal gathering where people of all skill levels come together to play percussion instruments and create music through a shared experience.
For people with substance use disorder and mental health conditions, drum circles can provide the following:
Inclusivity: Drum circles are designed to be accessible to everyone, regardless of musical experience or ability.
Improvisation: The music is created spontaneously, with participants responding to each other’s rhythms and sounds in the moment.
Community Focus: The emphasis is on collective playing and creating a shared musical experience, fostering a sense of unity and connection.
Facilitation: Many drum circles are led by a facilitator who guides the group in creating rhythms and activities, but the focus remains on the collective experience.
Connection: Drum circles can be a fun and engaging way to connect with others, release stress, and experience the joy of making music together.
