East Greenville Action Park Restoration

Skating and BMX biking are sports that promote good health and strong connections, things that can be lacking in today’s culture. These activities can also offer an alternative to the use of drugs and alcohol as a way to bring people together. This is especially important for kids who are not inclined to team sports, or who simply want something to do in whatever free time they have. As it has been shown that kids who don’t have enough to do can and often do wind up getting into trouble.

While there are two metal ramps, the park equipment is made of wood, and covered with Skatelite, a durable composite material that enhances the skating/biking experience. While the structures have been built well, the park is in need of regular maintenance due to wear and tear and exposure to the elements. So far, there have been two other work days dedicated to repairing and updating the park one in 2018 and a second in 2019, a third was planned for 2020 but was canceled due to the Pandemic.

At this time, Project Live Upper Perk, in partnership with Sync Recovery, is proposing to return to the Skate Park for another work-day, to rebuild and upgrade the park, to not only ensure its continued existence but also to keep those who use the park safe.

This work-day will be from 8 am until approximately 2 pm and will include community volunteers as well as personnel from Project Live and Sync Recovery.

The event is finished.
