Ukulele Workshop

Jim Roney’s “You Can Ukulele” at Change on Third

“There’s something about the ukulele that just makes you smile. It makes you let your guard down. It brings out the child in all of us.” – Jake Shimabukuro

Change on 3rd Street in Easton is hosting this workshop that is designed to introduce you to playing the Ukulele. This seminar is designed to introduce you to playing the Ukulele. The course will cover getting to know the string note names, basic Ukulele tuning apps, 4 basic chords and the ability to read chord and song charts. A ukulele will be provided for this seminar. You will learn how hold a Ukulele, place your fingers for a chord on the fret board and properly strum the strings. A chord will be added to then learn changing from one chord to the next. The student will then learn how to read a song chart that uses the chords already learned. Also, you will learn tablature (a form of notation)that you can perform single note melody lines.

We are so fortunate to have Jim Roney leading this class. Jim is a local musician and music teacher. A Doylestown native, he has lived in Bucks County all his life. Performing in the area for over 40 years, Jim plays a variety of music styles including; Ballads, Rock n Roll and Blues. Currently working full time as a guitar teacher, Jim has taught pre-school music at local day care centers and was Music Specialist at St John the Baptist Elementary School. Visit Jim’s web site, www.jimmerostudio.com, and see what he is currently doing to record local artists and some of his students. There might be a joke told when he is around.
