A drum circle is an informal, communal gathering where people of all skill levels come together to play percussion instruments and create music through a shared experience.\nFor people with substance use disorder and mental health conditions, drum circles can provide the following:\n\nInclusivity: Drum circles are designed to be accessible to everyone, regardless of musical experience or ability. \nImprovisation: The music is created spontaneously, with participants responding to each other’s rhythms and sounds in the moment. \n\nCommunity Focus: The emphasis is on collective playing and creating a shared musical experience, fostering a sense of unity and connection. \n\nFacilitation: Many drum circles are led by a facilitator who guides the group in creating rhythms and activities, but the focus remains on the collective experience. \nConnection: Drum circles can be a fun and engaging way to connect with others, release stress, and experience the joy of making music together. \n\nText our Director of Education & Peer Support, Per Hagen, at (215) 380-3341 if you need more information.\n\n
